Study on High Frequency Oscillations (HFO)

Study on the potential role of high frequency oscillations (HFO) in the disorders of the central nervous system (CNS)

Project Objectives

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the functionality of the somatosensory system by means of somatosensory evoked potentials (in particular, by studying high frequency oscillations) in healthy subjects and in patients affected by various neurological disorders including: multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), epilepsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We hypothesize that this study will provide important clues regarding the pathogenesis of these conditions, and it will possibly suggest new and important therapeutic strategies for these patients based on neuromodulation.
