The Lancisiana Academy, faithful to the purpose of its founder Giovanni Maria Lancisi, in order to encourage scientific research, disseminate knowledge of the activities carried out in healthcare institutions, promote discussion on medical topics and train young doctors, establishes for the year 2026 no. 5 Honorary Awards, aimed at recent graduates of the Faculties of Medicine and Surgery of the Roman universities (Sapienza and satellite centers, Tor Vergata, Campus Bio-medico, Cattolica), who are authors of degree theses of particular importance, both for the Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery and for the Master's Degrees in Healthcare Disciplines.

The awards ceremony will take place in April 2027, on the day dedicated to Culture Week, in the presence of the respective speakers.

The procedure for selecting the theses to be awarded will be as follows:

1. submission of the theses to the Academy by 31 December 2026, according to the procedures set out in Call for Admissions (in Italian);

2. evaluation of the theses by a special commission.

Each author of the theses selected for the award will be able to present a summary of their thesis in class during the session dedicated to the Week for Culture, which will be held in April 2027.

On this occasion the Lancisiana Academy will award a prize consisting of:

  • parchment certificate from the Lancisiana Academy
  • free three-year membership to the Accademia Lancisiana and publication of a summary of the thesis in the online journal “Atti della Accademia Lancisiana”.

The winners will also undertake to present the results of their further studies on the degree theses each year or, alternatively, to propose the organisation of a symposium on another topic.
