The International Doctorate focuses on basic and clinical research in the field of endocrine pathologies and offers PhD students opportunities for study and research stays at European universities associated with theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry, United Kingdom; Universität Ulm, Germany).
Research Objectives
The PhD has research objectives in the following areas:
- Type 1 diabetes, LADA, endocrine autoimmunity
- Epigenetic studies (genetic modifications of an organism) on twins affected by endocrine and autoimmune diseases
- Insulin resistance and secretion, genetic polymorphisms associated with endocrine pathologies
- Stem cell biology, beta cell regeneration
- Genetic epidemiology of type 1 diabetes
- Double diabetes
- Tissue regeneration and endothelial cells
- Genetic and environmental risk factors in type 1 diabetes.
Verification tools
An annual report on the activity carried out, to be presented to the Academic Board.
European title
The qualification acquired at the end of the three-year period is legally recognized at European level.
