Research Areas

The Doctorate focuses on the systematic analysis of the scientific and technological action of researchers, doctors and nurses, taking into broad consideration the interdisciplinary aspects of the professional activity. It is part of the activities of the Institute of Philosophy of Scientific and Technological Action (Fast). Focuses on the following areas:

  • Clinical bioethics (analysis of: clinical research, clinical methodology, care and management, ethics committees, ethics committees in developing countries)
  • Ethics applied to biomedical engineering
  • Philosophy of medicine and scientific and technological action
  • Biolaw
  • Didactics and communication of bioethics
  • Bioethics and ethics of health professions in developing countries.

Research Objectives

The main research objectives consist in the development of new models of understanding, evaluation and direction of scientific action, through the tools of normative anthropology, bioethics and the philosophy of science.
