From 1 November 2022, Prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli will take over from Prof. Raffaele Calabrò
24 May 2022 - The Board of Directors ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma resolved the appointment, from 1 November 2022, of teacher. Eugenio Guglielmelli as the new Rector of the University. The current Rector, prof. Raffaele Calabrò, will remain in office until the end of his mandate on 31 October 2022. In the coming months, Prof. Guglielmelli, currently vice-rector looking for theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, will work with prof. He Calabrò with a view to finalizing the important ongoing projects and starting new development initiatives.
Eugenio Guglielmelli, born in 1965, has a degree in electronic engineering. Since 2004 he has taught at the Departmental Faculty of Engineering of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and since 2010 he has been a full professor of Industrial bioengineering. Since 2021 it has been designated by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) national representative of Italy in the Horizon Europe Program Committee - Cluster Health and from April 2022 member of the Italian delegation of the G7 – Science working group. From July 2021 it is the Scientific Director of the IRCCS Don Foundation Carlo Gnocchi Onlus, institution with which the University is increasingly consolidating strategic collaborations on topics of common interest.
His main research interests concern the theoretical and methodological aspects of bioengineering, robotics and intelligent machines, with particular reference to the field of mechatronic and robotic technologies for rehabilitation and assistance to the disabled and the elderly, neuro-robotics. , bionics and biorobotics. He is the author of over 430 scientific publications that have appeared in journals, books and international conference proceedings on the topics of bioengineering and biomedical robotics.
