It will start in January from an initiative of the Degree Course in Food Science and Human Nutrition

June 10, 2019 - An advanced training course to provide professionals and students with a broad overview of the production methods, ingredients, labeling requirements and documentary requirements required of manufacturing companies to start export activities to the United States, Canada, the Japan and China.

The course is aimed in particular at:

  • staff of companies that intend to market their products in non-European countries;
  • professionals interested in the issues of exporting food products abroad;
  • recent graduates who want to acquire an exclusive qualification;
  • food safety consultants and auditors working for large-scale food production platforms;
  • freelance auditors working for certification bodies.

At the end of the course, in addition to the university certificate, the PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) qualification certificate will be issued by the FSPCA (Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance) with a course provided by Lead Instructor for Preventive Controls for Human Food (FSPCA ) by DNVGL (International Accredited Registration and Classification Society).

“Those who finish this course - says Dr. Danila Polizzi, consultant and member of the scientific committee - will be an Export Food Manager who will have acquired specific knowledge in the production sector and will be able to highlight the regulatory and production differences between Europe and third countries . The learner will be able to independently manage the company procedural changes for the export of products to the treated countries and for the registration of production processes according to foreign regulations".

According to prof Laura De Gara, scientific director of the course: “Made in Italy in the food sector is perceived throughout the world as a synonym of quality and it is logical that the interest of Italian companies in exporting to non-European countries is growing more and more. At the same time, companies, especially SMEs, do not have adequate skills and knowledge to deal with the procedures necessary to export their products. Often, despite the excellent potential, the complexity of the procedures they have to follow, among other things different according to the country where they want to export, become insurmountable walls. There are various courses on the market that issue the PCQI qualification, but these are short courses, very standardized and exclusively oriented towards exporting to the United States. In our course there will be the opportunity to interact with different experts with whom we will examine concrete situations and problems for the various agro-food chains, with a highly participatory teaching".
