The minister of the Mass University: "The recovery and resilience plan is a unique opportunity"

20 May 2021 - The National Recovery and Resilience Plan as an opportunity to relaunch scientific research to plan the Italy of the future. They agree on the way forward in the coming years Minister of University and Research Maria Cristina Messa, The President of the National Research Council Maria Chiara Carrozza and achievement President of the Accademia dei Lincei Giorgio Parisi, visiting UCBM last May 19th, on the occasion of the appointment as Professor Emeritus of Massimo Inguscio, professor of physics of matter UCBM and outgoing president of the CNR.
"The PNRR has a mission dedicated to universities, research and training – said the Minister of Mass – We are facing a unique opportunity: the funds to restore stability and make planning are there, now we need to act. And research institutions will have to be able to take full advantage of this opportunity". The Rector is convinced of this UCBM Raffaele Calabrò which, in recognizing the work carried out by fundamental institutions for the country such as the CNR and the Accademia dei Lincei, underlines the close collaboration of the University with research bodies, universities and the world of industry for growth in the areas of biomedicine, information technology, the circular economy and robotics. The collaboration with the CNR is strategic, started since 2004 and consolidated with the signing of a framework agreement in 2012 which is still active and includes various agreements, the last of which was signed in 2020 for activation, at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, of an interdepartmental CNR research unit, with the Departments of Physics and Bio-agri-food Sciences.
Numerous researches conducted in collaboration and based on competitive tenders, European and national projects. Also important is the national doctoral program in artificial intelligence in collaboration with CNR and four other Italian universities, for which UCBM is the lead partner for the thematic area "Health and life sciences". "I believe that today the University must work on the economic and social value of education – concluded the Rector – Making young people passionate about research means making them understand the economic and social repercussions to give the country a future". And in his first outing as president of the CNR Maria Chiara Carrozza he recalled: "Our job is to make people believe in science, in research, in the future. Fundamental research and collaboration with companies are important to achieve industrial leadership."
