Recipients and access requirements

The course is aimed at managers and officers of private companies and public bodies who intend to understand the potential of OSINT.

Educational objectives

The correct management of the information cycle is acquiring, in Society 4.0, growing importance in the light of the amount of data and elements available and the need to implement decisions in extremely short times. The course aims to provide the methodological and technological background necessary to be able to acquire information from the Internet, social media and other open sources quickly and efficiently.

The path, with an approach based on learning by doing, provides the methodological skills to break down a question, plan and execute the process of gathering, analyzing and producing information, as well as providing indications on the main tools that allow to carry out an effective OSINT activity.

Course contents and syllabus

The course in "Introduction to the use of Open source intelligence (OSINT) in the corporate environment" offers an insight into how to acquire, manage and extract information from open sources.

The topics covered during the course are:

  • Strategic importance of OSINT
  • Risks related to the search for information
  • Research methodologies and strategies
  • Search safely: anonymity and privacy
  • Browsers and search engines: what they are and how to exploit them
  • The importance of social networks in the search for information
  • Retrieve information from the past
  • Research support tools
  • Information analysis tools:
    - the evaluation of the sources
    - the structure of the OSINT report
  • Overview of the types of activities that OSINT can support

At the end of the course, a will be issued certificate di participation.

Cost of the course

The course requires a registration fee of €800 a discount is provided for students and former students of the Master Homeland Security equal to € 400.
