The bootcamp will take place in Cambridge from 19 August to 6 September 2019

20 March, 2019 - In its first edition, IoT & Data Science Bootcamps is the three-week summer course hosted by Hughes Hall College of the University of Cambridge and organized by UCBM: an opportunity that will allow 35 young people an exclusive training with teachers from one of the most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, in a full-immersion from 19 August to 6 September 2019.

The course is based on three assets: engineering, such as design and problem solving; management, with the definition and use of project management tools; core skill, i.e. strengthening teamwork and problem solving. The cornerstone of the process is the resolution of case studies on two challenging issues for the global scenario: the Internet of Things and Big Data, the large pool of interconnected devices capable of collecting and transmitting data, the processing of which increasingly contributes to improvement of products, services, platforms.

To mark the times of Bootcamp 2019 will be a hackathon in collaboration with some companies that will present case studies on which the participants, divided into small groups, will build ad hoc solutions with the coordination of an experienced technical manager. This is thanks to the theoretical and practical skills provided above all in the first two weeks of the course. The solutions identified by the working groups will finally be presented to a jury of companies who will award the "Cambridge Bootcamp Award 2019".

The course, sponsored by the IEEE Technical Committee on Computational Life Sciences and by the Italian Chapter of the IEEE Sensors Council, is open to students from all Italian and foreign universities and young professionals with engineering and programming knowledge. An adequate command of the English language is required in order to participate in the teaching.
