June 21, 2019 - In a hyperconnected world, the danger of a hacker attack can have fatal consequences. Hence the importance of cyber security for national security to which the second level university master's degree, entitled "Homeland security", of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, now in its eleventh edition.
Yesterday, an open lesson of the course was held, in which the IT security managers of large Italian companies took part as speakers, including Francesco Morelli of Terna, Rocco Mammoliti of Poste Italiane, Riccardo Barrile of Ferrovie dello Stato Italian and Francesco Mataloni, business area manager of Vitrociset. Among the institutional interventions that of Gennaro Vecchione, Director General of the DIS (Department of Information for Security), and Vittorio Pisani of the Central Directorate of Immigration of the Ministry of the Interior.
All the speakers underlined the need to implement measures to prevent hacker attacks in Italy too, especially in anticipation of the advent of the 5G system which will be capable of connecting people and objects at a higher speed than the current network. On the same day the award was presented "Davide De Luca" to a student of last year's university master, Matteo Giacalone, who won with a thesis entitled "Cyber risk and Cyber insurance". The recognition is in memory of the head of the strategic analysis department of the Cesis general secretariat.
