A patronage that confirms the University's concrete commitment to environmental protection

4th November 2015 - 'L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma collects the encouragement of Pope Francis and renews its commitment to the environment and the education of new generations." With these words the University, through its own Rector Andrea Onetti Muda, adheres to the March for the earth on Sunday 8 November. An initiative promoted by the Vicariate of Rome on the occasion of the Day of the Custody of Creation and on the eve of the Paris climate conference, and included in the two days of events that wish to strongly support the message launched by Pope Francis through the encyclical Laudato Si '.

Numerous adhesions have already been received from the most varied protagonists of civil society: from the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea to the WWF, from the Sapienza University of Rome to the Red Cross, from Legambiente to Greenpeace... And it has not been done not even wait for the patronage ofUCBM, granted by his Executive Director Paolo Sormani.

An adhesion that confirms the concrete commitment of the University towards the protection of the environment. In fact, the Rector continues: "I am thinking, for example, of the protection and enhancement of the nature reserve that hosts us, but above all of the training of young engineers capable of designing and managing systems and technologies that respect the integrity of the environmental heritage". The reference is to the recent inauguration of the Nature Trail Andrea D'Ambrosio, traced within the Decima Malafede Nature Reserve and available to all citizens, as well as to the Master's Degree Course in Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development.

The march will start from the Colosseum at 9,30 and will have as its destination the nearby basilica of Santi XII Apostoli, around which solidarity markets, food and wine stands, educational workshops, live music and dances will promote new lifestyles and ask for food for everyone. At the end of the celebration of Mass inside the same basilica by card. Agostino Vallini, whoever wishes will be able to reach Piazza S. Pietro, where Pope Francis will greet the participants during the Angelus. The activity will then continue in Piazza dei SS. Apostles, where the Concert for the Earth, starting at 17, will conclude the day.
