The 14 participants in the week of study and research of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma

June 14, 2017 - Five days to get in touch with the university reality and put yourself to the test in the research laboratories. It is the first edition of Summer lab, experience intended for 14 students from the fourth year of high school of Barletta, Bitonto (BA), Caserta, Celano (PZ), Lodi, Marciana Marina (LI), Marigliano (NA), Modica (RG), Rome, Pomezia, Sassari and Jesi.

Selected in the month of May from more than one application centre, the young people are guests of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma from 12 to 16 June. A week in which, not only can they attend their first 'university lessons', but also try their hand at experiments and scientific projects within the research units of Robotics, Automation, IT, Instrumentation, Electronics, Chemistry and Modelling.

To access the Summer Lab, the candidates talked about their passions and explained why they would like to spend five days at the university: the teachers then transformed the students' aspirations into a calendar of seminars, in the morning, and workshops, in the afternoon . It is in fact in the second part of the day that the students, under the guidance of the researchers UCBM, put their knowledge to good use directly in contact with electronic sensors, computer applications, calculators and specific software as well as with electro-medical equipment and advanced instrumentation in the field of neuroengineering. But still, for some of them chemical experiments and exercises with the microscope are foreseen.

A real leap from school desks to research laboratories, which also leaves room for the discovery of Rome. From Trastevere to Campo de' Fiori, passing through the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, in the evening the 'budding researchers' are accompanied by tutors in some of the most evocative places in the capital.
