24 May 2021 - From the study of innovative orthopedic devices to the development of robotic systems, telemonitoring and analysis of clinical parameters, from rehabilitation programs to augmented and immersive reality projects. It opened in Milan NeMOLab, the first Italian technological center for research on neurodegenerative and neuromuscular pathologies, which affect around 40 people in Italy.

A project that involves 18 researchers and in which they participate nine high-tech laboratories, each of which is oriented towards dealing with an aspect related toautonomy of the person with disabilities. Ortho Lab, Biorobotics Lab and Mobility Lab are dedicated to the design and development of enabling and adaptive technologies. The Entertainment Lab area is dedicated to the study and development of rehabilitation projects based on augmented and immersive reality. There are two areas of "data analysis" for the development of collection, processing and monitoring models of clinical data and parameters: Me-Mo Lab analyzes movement, while Smart Health Innovation Lab remotely monitors clinical and health data. Voice Lab and Opto Lab have been developed to counteract the loss of functional voice and visual ability. For the study of home automation solutions aimed at responding to the need for daily autonomy, Home Lab reproduces a "smart" home environment that can be controlled with the voice . To the area Biorobotics Lab participates in the CREO Lab ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, directed by prof. ssa Loredana Zollo, Head of the Research Unit of Advanced Robotics and Human-Centered Technologies and Full Professor of Industrial Bioengineering. “The goal of this collaboration is to develop assistive and rehabilitation technologies for patients with muscle pathologies, with the broadest possible social impact - he stressed Loredana Zollo - Technology plays a fundamental role in improving the quality of life of patients, thanks above all to the recovery of the level of autonomy. And the great adaptability is the key element that allows us to put the patient at the center and bring a vision of technology that is human-centric.”. To complete the scientific and technological supply chain, the NeMOLab laboratories benefit from the collaboration of Google Italia, Ortopedia Castagna, Cluster Lombardo Technologies for Living Environments, Assolombarda, Riatlas, ABCS, Rotary Club Milano Linate and Technoprobe.
