Graduated with honors in Chemical Engineering (MSc) at "La Sapienza" (Rome) in February 1973.

He began his career in 1974 at Technipetrol SpA (subsequently Technip Italy SpA), one of Italy's leading private engineering and construction companies. Initially as a process engineer, he became CEO (Chief Executive Officer) in 1994, and led the company from 1994 to 2007. In 2000, he became a member of the Executive Committee of the holding company, Technip SA, listed on the Paris Stock Exchange in the CAC 40 segment.

Since 1999 he has also been Executive Chairman of KTI SpA, an engineering company in Rome specialized in the construction of hydrogen plants, sulfur recovery plants, industrial furnaces and reforming plants.

In 2007 he left Technip to become Chief Executive Officer of Permasteelisa Group, a world leader in the design, production and installation of architectural envelopes, curtain walls and systems for large buildings and systems, where he also held the role of member of the Supervisory Board of Gartner GmbH, a German company managed under the dual system and from 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the international holding company of the LIXIL group, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

From 2003 to 2008 he was President of OICE, the National Association of Engineering and Architecture Companies, a member of Confindustria.

From 2011 to 2014 he was a member of the Board of Directors of SAIPEM SpA, an ENI group company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.

From 2014 to 2023 he was a member of the Board of Directors of WEBUILD SpA (formerly Salini-Impregilo), listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, of which he became Deputy Vice President and member of the Executive Committee in 2018.

From 2022 until today he has been President of Salini Costruttori SpA and Salini SpA

Since the 2010-2011 academic year he has been a professor of "Economics and Business Management" at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development at the Biomedical Campus in Rome.

From 2003 to 2008 he has been Chairman of OICE, an Association, belonging to Confindustria (the Confederation of Italian Industry), that represents Italian engineering, architectural and technical economic consulting organizations.

From 2011 to 2014 Board Director of SAIPEM SpA, a leading Contractor of ENI group, listed at Milan Stock Exchange.

From 2013 to 2024 Board Director, and from 2018 Vice-Chairman of Webuild SpA (former Salini-Impregilo SpA), currently Chairman of the Board in Salini Costruttori SpA and in Salini Spa

From the academic year 2010-2011 he teaches Economics and Business Management” for the degree in “Chemical Engineering for the Sustainable Development” at the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome.
