Prof. Sergio Silvestri
Biography
Full Professor of Mechanical and Thermal Measurements at the Departmental Faculty of Engineering of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. Professor, at the same University, of Measurements and Instrumentation for Clinical Diagnostics and Diagnostic Instrumentation for Imaging. He is responsible for the Clinical Engineering Service of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital. He is the author of a monograph, a book chapter, over 130 international publications, two collaborations in manuals "Fundamentals of Clinical Engineering" Vol 1 and 2. He is inventor for an international patent and a European patent application. He is President of the Biomedical Engineering Commission of the Professional Order of Engineers of Rome and Province.
Curriculum
The scientific activity mainly focuses on mechanical and thermal measurements in the field of clinical diagnostics and in particular: on fluid flow measurements in neonatal artificial ventilation with the development of innovative sensors and methods for compressible volume compensation; on the creation of tools for active and passive respiratory simulation, a non-invasive device for monitoring muscle contractions, a device for peritoneal dialysis of newborns and a non-invasive method for measuring cardiac output, measuring temperature in laser-tissue interactions also obtained with diagnostic techniques for CT, RM and ultrasound images; on non-contact monitoring of physiological parameters; on aspects of functional evaluation and testing of medical instruments.
He carries out research and consultancy for manufacturers and suppliers of electromedical instruments in the field of vital parameters monitoring, mechanical ventilation and image diagnostics.
Technical consultant for Administrative and Criminal Justice.
He is in the Register of Agenas experts and collaborators
He is in the REPRISE - Register of Expert Peer Reviewers for Italian Scientific Evaluation
Member of the Group of Expert Evaluators (GEV) for area 09 "Industrial and IT engineering" VQR 2015-19, ANVUR
