Prof. Umberto Vespasiani Gentilucci
Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, he obtained with honors a degree, specialization, doctorate (La Sapienza) and two second level masters (La Cattolica and UCBM). With a career entirely in UCBM and Fondazione Policlinico CBM, integrates clinical, teaching, and research activities in metabolic and autoimmune liver diseases. He is Deputy Coordinator of the PhD Program in Integrated Biomedical Sciences and Bioethics and of the Specialization Schools in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine, a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver and the Steering Committee of the Italian Primary Biliary Cholangitis Registry.
Biography
Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Deputy Director of the School of Specialization in Internal Medicine at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, from a healthcare point of view, he is responsible for highly specialized professional functions (complex functions) in the Internal Medicine and Hepatology Area of the Fondazione Universitario Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico of Rome. The research activity, in collaboration with national and international groups, is mainly focused on metabolic and autoimmune liver diseases, with particular reference to genetic predisposition factors and non-invasive stratification of the risk of disease progression. He is the author or co-author of more than 130 original articles published in international journals with impact factor.
Curriculum
He obtained his high school diploma in classical studies in 1996, and in 2002 he graduated in Medicine and Surgery at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma with a grade of 110/110 and honors and in 2007 he specialized in Internal Medicine at the same University with a grade of 50/50 and honors. In 2012 he became a Doctor of Research in Hepatology at the University La Sapienza of Rome, in 2013 he obtained the second level Master's degree in Entrepreneurship in Healthcare at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and in 2016 he obtained the Master's Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. In April 2016 he became a university researcher in Internal Medicine and in November 2019 Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.
From a professional point of view, after 2 years of consultancy activity (2007-2009), in 2010 he became responsible for simple professional functions, and from November 2019 for highly specialized professional functions (complex functions), at the Internal Medicine and Hepatology Area of the Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico in Rome. Between 2013 and 2017 he also carried out scientific consultancy activities for the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) and the European Medicine Agency (EMA).
From a teaching point of view, since the academic year 2013/2014 he has been a teacher for the Internal Medicine and Geriatrics course, since the academic year 2016-2017 for the Semiotics course, in the Degree course in Medicine, and since the academic year 2020 in the Doctorate of Integrated Biomedical Sciences and Bioethics and Surgery of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di RomaSince November 2022 he has been Vice-Director of the School of Specialization in Medicine of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.
He is author or co-author of more than 130 original articles published in international journals with impact factor, and has participated as a collaborator in more than 30 other works always published in international journals with impact factor. He is in the Editorial Board (Associate Editor, Academic Editor, Editorial Board Member) of international scientific journals. He has received national and international funding for research projects.
