1. Premise

This Cookie Policy refers exclusively to the Hivebrite web platform, adopted byUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma for the creation of its own “Alumni” management platform – https://alumni.unicampus.it(hereinafter the “Platform") and must be understood as an integral part of the Privacy Policy of the same.

A “cookie” is a small text file that can be stored in a dedicated space on the hard disk of the device used by the user (e.g. computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when they visit a website through their browser and may be subject to the prior consent of the user before being installed. Through cookies, a site remembers the user's actions and preferences (such as, for example, login data, the chosen language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not have to be indicated again when the user returns to visit the site or navigates from one page to another. Cookies are therefore used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring and storage of information regarding the activities of users who access a site and may also contain a unique identification code that allows tracking of the user's navigation within the site for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing a site, the user may also receive on his computer or mobile device cookies from sites or web servers other than the one he is visiting (so-called "third party" cookies). Some operations could not be performed without the use of cookies, which in some cases are therefore technically necessary for the functioning of the site.

There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, and these can remain on the user's computer or mobile device for different periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user's device until a pre-established deadline. According to the applicable legislation, the use of cookies does not always require the express consent of the user. In particular, the so-called "technical" or "necessary" cookies do not require consent, i.e. those used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are cookies that are essential for the functioning of the site or, in any case, necessary to perform activities requested by the user. Among the necessary cookies, which do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see provision Identifying simplified methods for providing information and obtaining consent for the use of cookies of 8 May 2014 - hereinafter only "Provision" - and, lastly, the Guidelines for cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021 – hereinafter only “Guidelines”) also includes:

  • first-party and third-party statistical or analytical cookies, if tools are adopted that reduce the identifying power of the cookies and the third party does not cross-reference the information collected with other information it already has, used to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself;
  • navigation or session cookies, the deactivation of which could compromise the use of the services accessible from login;
  • functional cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language) in order to improve the service provided to the user.

Conversely, for "marketing cookies", i.e. those aimed at identifying the user's preferences in order to improve and personalize their browsing experience and/or show them marketing communications in line with the preferences expressed during browsing, as well as for third-party statistical or "measurement" cookies, if tools are not adopted that reduce the cookies' identifying power and the third party cross-references the information collected with other information it already has, prior consent from the user is required, as well as for cookies that are not strictly necessary for the technical functionality of the site (see, for example, "experience" cookies used on the site to improve the user experience).

Please be informed that the Site uses the following cookies, which can be deselected, even individually (as specified below in the section relating to the "Cookie settings"):

  • Technical navigation cookies: these cookies allow the Site to function correctly and allow you to view its contents; their eventual deactivation would lead to malfunctions of the Site; technical navigation cookies also include cookies session and functionality, used to activate specific functions of the Site and to configure the Site based on your choices (for example, language, etc.), in order to improve your browsing experience;
  • analytical or statistical cookies, first and third party, non-functional to the operation of the Site and which allow the Owner to carry out statistical monitoring of the use of the Site by visitors and analyse traffic to and from the Site; these cookies allow the Owner to carry out statistical analyses, aimed at improving the Site and simplifying its use, as well as monitoring its correct functioning.
  • cookies or other first and third party marketing and profiling tracers, used to observe the preferences revealed by the user through navigation and use of the Site and outline profiles relating to the user, in order to create commercial communications and a browsing experience in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web. These cookies are used to propose targeted advertising and communications more relevant to your interests.

It is specified that the aforementioned third parties process personal data as data controllers on behalf of the Data Controller, pursuant to specific agreements for the processing of data pursuant to art. 28 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. The third parties, listed below with the relevant hyperlinks to the privacy policies, typically also act as independent data controllers of the data collected through the cookies sent by them; in this case the user gives or refuses consent directly to the owner of the cookie in question to which the Site merely refers. The management of information collected by third parties is governed by their privacy policies to which please refer and of which, for greater convenience, the links are provided below:
