The Specialist in Geriatrics must have acquired, at the end of the training course, scientific knowledge and practical-professional skills in:


  • Normal and pathological aging processes and the frailty and disability condition of the elderly

  • Demography and epidemiology of ageing

  • Pathophysiology, Clinic and treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the elderly and major geriatric syndromes

  • Preventive medicine, rehabilitation and palliative care for the elderly patient

  • Evaluation methods and multidimensional intervention in the elderly in all nodes of the network of services, also acquiring the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary intervention within the geriatric evaluation unit
