Purpose

The University Specialization Course in "Opportunities and Challenges of the Energy Transition" is part of the Innovation&Sustainability (I&S) Project, promoted byUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and has the aim of training professional figures capable of understanding the complex mechanisms of the energy transition, managing them and implementing effective strategies aimed at mitigating environmental impact.

Educational objectives

The course aims at developing the following knowledge and skills:

  • Development of knowledge and techniques on issues related to the management of the energy transition process of a company.
  • Acquisition of methodologies and tools for the valorisation of sustainable energy technologies.
  • Acquisition of methodologies and tools for environmental impact assessment and definition of mitigation strategies (LCA).
  • Activation of reflections to be transformed into learning about the behaviors (soft skills) useful for the competence profile with particular reference to the contents of energy management, emotional intelligence and relational effectiveness.

The course is aimed at:

  • MISE employees
  • Employees of MITE
  • Employees of the MUR

To participate in the course, the possession of a degree (at least three years) in technical-scientific disciplines is required.

Participation in the course is incompatible with enrollment in other university study courses, namely: Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, Specialization course, Research Doctorate, active training internship (TFA) and other university Master's.

Course structure

The course is structured in 5 modules, each lasting 2 days.

The teaching structure of the course is given below:

RENEWABLE ENERGY AND GREEN FUEL Implementation policies and strategies in Italy and Europe. Technologies and end uses (transport and stationary, civil and industrial applications). 2
DECARBONIZATION CO2 emissions in Europe and in the world, the Emission Trading System mechanism, CO2 capture, transport and storage technologies, CO2 valorisation technologies. 2
REGULATORY ASPECTS AND NEW STANDARDS FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION Source traceability, environmental certifications, new incentive tools. Regulatory compliance (UNI EN ISO standards). Standardization, regulation and specific requirements of new green technologies. Standardization of data and methodologies for quantifying energy impacts. 2
SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT AND ETHICAL ISSUES ON THE ENERGY TRANSITION Social acceptability, social and ethical needs related to environmental protection, innovation management, consumer education approaches for new technologies, alignment with European policies. 2
GREEN DEAL AND PNRR Green finance, innovation fund, financial instruments for innovative companies, penetration of renewable energies. Areas of intervention and KET (Key Enable Technologies), challenges and opportunities. 2
PROJECT WORK Preparation and presentation of the project work at the end of the course. 3

Teaching methodology

The Course will be delivered in Phygital mode which combines the online and offline worlds trying to take the best aspects of each to create a more complete and satisfying customer experience.

Title awarded

The students who complete the course with the discussion of the final Project Work and who comply with the administrative obligations will be awarded the title of specialization in "Opportunities and Challenges of the Energy Transition" to which 13 credits are attributed.

Those who do not discuss the final Project Work will be issued a certificate of participation in the Course on "Opportunities and Challenges of the Energy Transition".

Duration, start date and location

The course will last 2 months. The start date is on 4th November 2022.

The lessons will take place at the headquarters of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

Registration fee

The participation fee for the course is €4.200,00.

The subsidized participation fee dedicated to PA employees is € 2.940,00
