The st level University Master's degree in "Intensive and emergency-urgency nursing" is promoted by the Healthcare Professions Assistance Management Area of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital in collaboration with the A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation of Rome. This is a training course that aims to develop advanced skills in the management of emergencies and clinical emergencies in the patient's journey from the territory to the DEA.

Recipients and access requirements
The Master is intended for nursing staff (class L/SNT01 or LM/SNT01) in possession of the following qualifications:
- degree in Nursing obtained pursuant to Ministerial Decree 509/99
- three-year university qualification for the profession of nurse according to the regulations prior to DM509/99
- diplomas obtained by members of the healthcare profession of nurses on the basis of paragraph 10 Article 1 of Law 1/2002, in possession of a five-year high school diploma
- equivalent qualification obtained abroad and accompanied by dichiaravalue tion.
Preferred title, experience of at least 2 years in a critical area or at least 4 years in various areas of expertise in the hospital setting.
Educational objectives
The Master aims to transmit knowledge and allows students to acquire strategies and skills in the emergency-urgency clinic. At the end of the course of study the student will have:
- acquired communicative-relational strategies in the context of emergencies
- developed research methodological skills and bioethical knowledge for professional practice in emergencies
- acquired skills in the evaluation and clinical assistance management of medical-surgical emergencies
- acquired knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacodynamics in emergencies and of diagnostic-therapeutic aids for the management of clinical criticalities
- acquired the appropriate knowledge for the management of territorial emergencies and disaster medicine.
Final profile
The profile formed by the Master, in accordance with current legislation, is the DEA nurse, which can be placed in institutions in the private and public health sector (according to current regulations). The Master's will also confer Triage Licensure and the American Heart Association Advanced Certification (ACLS).
Didactic structure and thematic areas
The Master will have a duration of 12 months, with a starting date on February 27th 2019 and an end date on March 27th 2020. It guarantees the acquisition of 60 credits (equal to 1500 hours). Its modular and part-time formula makes it compatible and contextual to professional commitments and responsibilities. The 60 credits are divided as follows:
- 41 credits in teaching and study activities
- 15 credits in internship activities
- 4 credits in the elaboration of the project work.
The Master will be delivered in blended mode: the contents of some lessons will be made available through an online platform for students to use. Through this platform it will be possible to access the teaching material and the assessment tests in progress. The course is structured in 7 thematic areas involving integrated forms of theoretical activities and individual learning and field experiences.
Partner entities
The course is organized in collaboration with the A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation of Rome and with the patronage of the Order of Nursing Professions, the National Association of Critical Care, Resuscitation and Intensive Care Area Nurses and the Executive Nurses Committee.
Title awarded
st level University Master's degree in "Intensive and Emergency-Urgency Nursing". The acknowledgment of the training credit is linked both to the regular attendance and to the passing of the ongoing and final tests. Attendance at training activities is compulsory and the award of the qualification is subject to the following minimum requirements:
- attendance of no less than 80% of the hours of frontal lessons and no less than 100% of the hours of internship activities
- successful passing of all ongoing assessment tests (e.g. exercises, tests, oral tests, etc.)
- passing the final test, which consists in the discussion of a project work in front of a specifically established commission (the project work involves the elaboration of a PTD)
- be up-to-date with the payment of the enrollment fees for the Master.
CME credit exemption: Determination of the CNFC of 17 July 2013 regarding "exemptions, exemptions, individual tutoring, training abroad, self-learning, registration and certification methods".
Method of admission
To be admitted to the Master, candidates must pass:
- online motivational interview with the candidate
- evaluation of study and scientific/professional curriculum.
The curriculum vitae and studiorum must be presented indicating, in addition to personal data:
- training experiences with certified assessment: AFD ASV, Midwifery, Specialist, specialization course, Master, DAI, Degree, ECM, etc. indicating the duration expressed in days/hours
- professional experiences: functions of professional nurse, head nurse, coordination of departments, etc. indicating the period of service expressed in months/years
- scientific and didactic activity: texts and articles, responsibility and/or collaboration in research projects, teaching, etc.
The application for admission to the Master must be submitted by 11 February 2019 using this procedure online which involves:
- personal data
- resume
- dichiarasubstitutive certification
- payment of the fee of 50 euros.
The motivational interviews will take place at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome on 15 February 2019. The list of those admitted will be announced by 20 February 2019 on this page.
Enrollment and participation fee
- Having read the admission, enrollment in the Master's must be done by 22 February 2019. Failure to enroll within this deadline will be considered as withdrawal. Enrollment is deemed completed by sending the enrollment form provided by the coordinator to the Post-Graduate Training Service, together with a copy of the bank transfer certifying that at least the first installment has been paid. The Master requires a participation fee of 2.600,00 euros.
All payments, including that relating to the admission application, must be made to a bank account in the name of Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma at UBI Banca Spa - IBAN: IT34T0311103253 000000099779. Specify the reason for each payment ("Name and Surname - Master in ....)
The participation fee can be paid in a single solution or in 4 installments of 650,00 euros each:
- the first installment by 22 February 2019
- the second installment by 31 May 2019
- the third installment by 31 August 2019
- the fourth installment by 30 November 2019.
There are reduced rates of 2000,00 euros for the staff of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital.
In no case will the fees be refunded.
Enrollment in the Master's is incompatible with simultaneous enrollment in another course of study (first degree courses, specialist degree courses, university diplomas, direct schools for special purposes, specialization schools, research doctorates and masters).
