The II level University Master's Degree in Sports Traumatology aims to train doctors, physiotherapists and athletic trainers to operate in the field of sports traumatology, providing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of prevention and treatment of athlete's traumas. Students of the Master must achieve skills in the pathophysiological, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic fields concerning the sports patient, in order to acquire, at the end of the course, autonomous clinical skills in the specific sector.
Recipients and output profile
The master has two different methods of participation:
- student, selected through the call and in possession of a master's degree or equivalent
- auditor (he will be able to purchase the entire course or only some modules, he will not have the compulsory attendance of the lessons and, since this is an extra-academic course for him, he will be able to apply even if he does not have a master's degree): he will not obtain the master's title, but a certificate of participation.
Admission to the Course as a student is subject to passing a curricular selection in which those who, at the date of selection, are in possession of one of the following qualifications can participate: Single-cycle Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery (LM- 41), Master's Degree in Sciences and Techniques of Preventive and Adapted Motor Activities (LM-67), Master's Degree in Sports Technical Sciences (LM-68), Master's Degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences (LM-SNT1), Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences of Health Professions (LM-SNT2), Master's Degree in Technical Health Professions Sciences (LM-SNT3), Master's Degree in Health Professions Sciences of Prevention (LM-SNT4), Master's Degree in Biology (LM-06), Master's Degree in Statistical Sciences (LM-82), Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering (LM-21), equivalent degrees of the previous regulations.
Educational objectives
At the end of the master, the participant will acquire:
- knowledge of the pathophysiology of sports traumatology
- the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies associated with traumatic events during sporting activity
- the useful skills for the multidisciplinary clinical evaluation of the athlete
- useful skills for first aid in the field for the traumatized athlete
- useful skills for conservative and surgical therapeutic planning
- knowledge of sports injury prevention programs
- knowledge of post-traumatic rehabilitation principles
- knowledge of the athlete's metabolism and functional requirements
- knowledge of the principles of sports doping.
Didactic structure
The University Master has a duration of 18 months (for a total of 60 credits, equal to 1500 total teaching hours). The training course is divided into 6 thematic areas: fundamental principles; athlete's metabolism, sports doping and medical ethics; sports traumatology in children; trauma prevention; district-specific sports traumatology: head, neck; shoulder; elbow and forearm; wrist, hand and fingers; Chest; rachis; lower limb; knee; leg, ankle and foot; the athlete and systemic pathologies. The course is structured in multidisciplinary thematic modules which include integrated forms of theoretical activities, live surgery and individual learning.
Frequency mode
Each meeting will take place on the following days and times: Friday 9-18 and Saturday 9-18.

Method of admission
The application for admission to the master must be submitted by 10 November 2017 using the online procedure available on this page and which requires the insertion of:
- personal data and curriculum vitae
- dichiarasubstitutive certification
- payment of the admission fee of €50
For admission to the master, the evaluation of the curriculum is required.
The ranking of those admitted will be announced on 11 November 2017 by publishing the list on this same page.
Registration and payment
Having read the admission, enrollment in the master's program must be completed by 20 November 2017. Failure to enroll within this deadline will be considered as withdrawal. Enrollment is considered complete with the sending, via fax, to the Post-Graduate Training Service, of the enrollment form provided by the coordination, together with a copy of the bank transfer certifying payment of the first installment.
All payments, including that relating to the admission application, must be made to the bank account in the name of Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, at Ubi Banca Spa – IBAN: IT34T0311103253000000099779.
Attendance fee
The enrollment fee for the entire master is €3.000, to be divided into 2 installments:
- €1.500 upon enrollment (November 20, 2017)
- €1.500 by 8 May 2018
In no case will the fees be refunded.
Enrollment in a university master's degree is incompatible with simultaneous enrollment in another course of study (first cycle degree courses, specialist degree courses, university diplomas, direct schools for special purposes, specialization schools, research doctorates and university masters).

Final certificate
At the end of the course, after passing the final test, the title of "II level University Master in Sports Traumatology" will be issued. Those who attend the master as auditors will not obtain the qualification and will be issued a certificate of participation. The achievement of the title is subject to having reached the minimum attendance requirements (80% lessons) and to the regularity of the payment of the enrollment fees for the Master.
