The Master aims to promote Physiotherapy in the musculoskeletal and rheumatological field by training highly specialized physiotherapists in the management of musculoskeletal and rheumatological disorders.
Educational objectives
The objectives of the training course are:
- To provide advanced knowledge of conservative management characterized by the analysis, interpretation, and treatment of health problems arising from neuro-musculoskeletal and rheumatological disorders.
- Provide advanced knowledge, skills, and competencies utilizing the principles of evidence-informed practice and clinical reasoning processes.
- To promote the development and awareness of the seven clinical roles required at postgraduate level to work in different areas of specialist physiotherapy (research, academic positions, clinical practice):
- The physiotherapist as a clinical expert/decision maker/clinician
- The physiotherapist as a communicator
- The physiotherapist as a collaborator
- The physiotherapist as a leader/manager
- The physiotherapist as a health promoter
- The physiotherapist as academic/researcher/teacher/long-life learning
- The physiotherapist as a health professional
Recipients and access requirements
The Master is reserved for all those who have a first level degree in the health area in Physiotherapy, or a qualifying university diploma or equivalent qualification pursuant to art. 4, Law 26 February 1999, n. 42.
In case of possession of a first level degree in the health area in Physiotherapy obtained following a reconversion course, the previous qualification enabling the practice must be provided.
In the case of undergraduates, the degree must be obtained within 90 days of the start of the Master. If, after the aforementioned period, the participant has not obtained the required degree, he/she may follow the Master as an auditor.
Outgoing profile
Those who complete the Master's degree will obtain the title of physiotherapist specialized in the musculoskeletal and rheumatic field (art. 6 of Law no. 43/06 according to the university teaching regulations defined by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of University and Research, on the proposal of the National Observatory for the health professions, reconstituted at the MUR with the interministerial decree of 10 March 2016 and having heard the Regions) through the acquisition of advanced skills in the field of prevention, evaluation and physiotherapy treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunctions, according to the international standards of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapy (IFOMPT), and rheumatological, as well as in the management of innovative organizational models, research and training projects in this field.
Teaching method and organization
The Level I University Master's Degree in "Musculoskeletal and Rheumatic Physiotherapy" awards 90 University Training Credits (CFU) and has a total duration of two academic years. The 90 CFU, equal to 2.250 hours of training activities, are divided as follows:
- 56 CFU of theoretical and practical teaching activities, in person and via live streaming, and individual study;
- 10 CFU of internship with OMPT tutoring;
- 24 CFU of elaboration of the final Project Work.
The training path is divided into:
- A module on research methodology and statistics.
- A module of principles of musculoskeletal and rheumatological specialist physiotherapy.
- Twelve modules of theory, methodology, and specialized clinical practice in musculoskeletal and rheumatology divided by anatomical district.
- Four internship modules with OMPT tutoring, two of which are centralized group and two individual peripheral ones.
The Master is delivered in blended mode, specifically, 85% of the lessons will be held exclusively in person and 15% of the lessons will be held exclusively remotely in synchronous mode.
The Master will normally take place one week a month, on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Method of admission
Please be advised that the Master's admission test will take place next Tuesday, May 13th in the AMF classroom on the 1st floor of the Trapezio, in Via Alvaro del Portillo 21.
Participation fee and reduced rates
The Master's enrollment fee is €6.000,00 to be paid in four equal installments according to the following deadlines:
- €1.500,00 upon registration (by 19/05/2025)
- €1.500,00 by 30/09/2025
- €1.500,00 by 31/01/2026
- €1.500,00 by 31/05/2026
L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma makes available a maximum of 20 scholarships worth €1.000,00 each, for graduates of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, to be awarded on the basis of the Master's admission ranking.
In no case will the participation fees paid to the Master be refunded.

Title awarded
Participants who complete the Master's degree and comply with administrative requirements will be awarded the title of First Level University Master's Degree in "Musculoskeletal and Rheumatological Physiotherapy".
The title issued, in addition to the signatures of the General Director and the Rector of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, will bear the signatures of the Scientific Direction of the Master.
