Prof. Roberto Guida

Full Professor of Economics of Financial Intermediaries - Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

Purpose

The University Specialization Course in "IoT Process Engineer" is part of the Innovation & Sustainability (I&S) Project, promoted byUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in partnership with Marzotto Venture Accelerator.

Educational objectives

The Course is focused on the development of advanced technical knowledge and skills in the IoT field: sensors, systems, cloud infrastructures, communication and data management technologies, configuration, monitoring and management of IoT infrastructures.

In particular, the topics of development of IoT devices and platforms, management and security of IoT architectures and systems, generation, processing and management of data in IoT systems, development and optimization for embedded systems and for Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 will be explored in detail.

The path combines technical-specialist skills with the learning of the transversal and behavioral skills (soft skills) of problem solving, creative intuition and time management necessary for the role of IoT Process Engineer.

Course structure

The course is structured in 6 modules, each lasting 2 days.

The teaching structure of the course is given below:

MODULEDESCRIPTIONECTS
MANAGEMENT AND SECURITY OF ARCHITECTURES AND IOT SYSTEMSMANAGEMENT AND SECURITY OF ARCHITECTURES AND IOT SYSTEMS

The module deals with the problem of information security related to IoT systems, describing the main vulnerabilities that these systems can present globally and the main methods of prevention and containment from attacks, going as far as the most innovative approaches currently available.
2
DEVELOPMENT ON IOT DEVICES AND PLATFORMSThe module prepares you for the development of IoT systems and platforms. In particular, the course addresses the problem of on-device development, starting from the problems of multiple translation, on-device orchestration of multiple actions, up to addressing the problems of communication and orchestration of multiple devices within distributed data collection logics. . The module includes development sessions and tests aimed at strengthening and verifying the learning transmitted.2
DATA GENERATION, PROCESSING AND MANAGEMENT IN IOT SYSTEMSThe module trains on models and solutions for the configuration and management of IoT devices, on the entire data generation, processing and distribution chain. Through reference models, case studies and concrete problems, the various phases are addressed, from the analysis of the physical characteristics of the data generated by transduction to the representation and management policies, up to those of centralized or distributed processing.2
DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEMSThe module transfers the fundamental skills to be able to approach and deepen the programming of embedded systems. The module retraces all the phases of development on embedded systems through concrete examples and according to a by-example logic. The learner is accompanied in the configuration of the development toolchain up to the design and optimization of the software on the reference hardware of the Course.2
INDUSTRIAL IOT AND INDUSTRY 4.0The module addresses the problem of designing and characterizing industrial IoT applications. In particular, the problem of requirements in the industrial field and the main solutions that make it possible to satisfy them are addressed. The module also addresses the problem of purely industrial communication standards and the new standards created to facilitate integration with IoT systems. Case studies and the solutions adopted in them are discussed in the module.2
EXPERT SOFT SKILLS LABThe module will allow the learner to acquire skills regarding:

- Recognize and use your own mental, physical and emotional energy.
- Emotional intelligence according to the Six Seconds model.
- Recognize your own patterns to develop creative skills.
- Empathic listening and relational effectiveness.
- Teamwork: from individual performance to team performance.
