In UCBM the 4th plenary meeting of the European project coordinated by Medtronic Iberica

28 September 2022 -  Appointment in UCBM for the 20 partners of the ODIN project, funded by the European Union and coordinated by #MedtronicIberica: professionals from all over Europe to work on #Robotics topics, #AI and #IoT for the development of #SmartHospital more and more #phygital, between Technological Area Integration #workshop and Technology #showroom.

The project involves our University with the Research Unit of Advanced Robotics and Person-Centered Technologies, directed by Prof. ssa Loredana Zollo, the Intelligent Health Technology unit, directed by Prof. Leandro Pecchia andGeriatrics Unit, directed by Prof. Raffaele Antonelli Incalzi.

The ODIN project aims to identify and address many challenges of hospital care thanks to the use of robotic technologies, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.

The objective of the project, which involves our University together with numerous European partners, is to provide technological solutions capable of reducing the workload of personnel and provide assistance services, in the clinical and logistic fields, for 5 clinical centers distributed in Europe. UCBM is working to develop robotic solutions, which integrate AI approaches and IoT systems, for geriatric patients. With the use of the TIAGo robot, researchers are developing interventions aimed at monitoring the nutrition of the elderly - the robot will take care of delivering the food and observing the amount of food eaten and the consequent energy calculation of the patient -, to support performing rehabilitation tasks in bed as well as monitoring oxygen intake.

During the 4th plenary meeting of the project held in recent days and hosted by UCBM, experts from all over Europe had the opportunity to visit the Advanced Robotics and Person-Centered Technologies Unit and the Geriatrics Research Unit and to be able to attend practical-demonstrative activities of autonomous and collaborative robots.
