Il Ethics Committee of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma participated in the founding event of the 23rd and 24th September Research Ethics Network (RER), held at the Rectorate of Sapienza University of Rome, formally joining the new national network that brings together over 40 Italian universities and research institutions.

Joining the Network represents for UCBM This is a further step in strengthening a research culture based on responsibility, scientific integrity, and the protection of individuals, in a context where the growing complexity of research projects requires constant dialogue between institutions and the development of shared criteria and tools.
Among the main objectives of the RER are the collaboration and exchange of good practicesin the activities of ethical clearance carried out by the Ethics Committees of Universities and Research Institutes, as well as the coordination for the development of common guidelines in the evaluation of aspects of ethics and integrity of research, in line with European guidelines and the broader international framework.
The Network also intends to promote inter-institutional collaboration in the field of research integrity, promoting the identification of common minimum standards for the analysis and management of any cases of alleged misconduct in research (Research Misconduct). The areas of work include the protection of any whistleblower, the definition of shared procedural timeframes and the development of common policies on conflict of interest.
The promotion of initiatives completes the framework of RER activities. awareness, dissemination and training on the issues of ethics, safety, and research integrity, through events and training courses shared among participating institutions.
