7 May 2021 - L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma has been for a few years first university in Italy for funds raised through the 5x1000 instrument, with more than 800 thousand euros intended on the occasion of the last ofchiaration of income. An important sum which is the result of the sensitivity of each single taxpayer and which this year too can be consolidated by renewing the trust and commitment in the fight against the pathologies of the elderly.
There are many elderly people who, unfortunately in this period, have lost their lives due to Covid-19. Andrea Rossi, General manager of the University, he says that"Our researchers feel even stronger the commitment to progress in improving the quality of life of these segments of the population. A job that also thrives on the generosity of many Italians, generosity thanks to which we can finance contracts for young talents, support costs of management, maintenance and operation of laboratories and other support structures, in line with our mission". A commitment that is renewed on the occasion of the year dedicated to St. Joseph, under the banner of a quote from St. Josemaría Escrivá: "Let your life not be a barren life. Be useful. Leave a trace". Besides, there are women and men who have made history in the third age: Rita Levi Montalcini received the Nobel Prize for medicine at 77, Giuseppe Verdi composed his last work, Falstaff, at 80, Michelangelo Buonarroti sculpted the Pietà Rondanini at 88. Three examples that tell how the third age has a timeless value, just like the great masterpieces it can generate.
Our researchers fight daily against Alzheimer's and against diseases of the elderly so that new masterpieces can come to life. We can all support them, with a simple signature, that of 5x1000.
