What happens when innovation, food science, and artificial intelligence meet? A new way of thinking about food is born: more sustainable, personalized, functional, and capable of responding to contemporary health challenges.
It is from this vision that the Food Design & AI Challenge, an initiative aimed at students and graduates promoted by the Master's Degree Course in Food Science and Technology and Food Design (LM-70) of the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, which will be held at the University headquarters during the days of 10 and 11 September.
In recent years, the food sector has undergone a profound transformation.artificial intelligence It is becoming a strategic ally in the design of new food products, in the analysis of consumer tastes, in the sustainability of supply chains, and in nutritional personalization. It is precisely within this context that the Food Design & AI Challenge, an immersive experience of design innovation designed to offer students a concrete comparison with the new frontiers of the agri-food sector. professional mini-workshop where participants will be able to put scientific, technological, and creative skills into practice to design innovative solutions for the food system.
The challenge proposed to the participants is to use artificial intelligence as a tool to develop concepts, products or services capable of redefining the future of foodDuring the challenge, participants will work in multidisciplinary teams, will receive ongoing mentoring by teachers and experts in the sector and will present a final project evaluated by teachers and stakeholders.
An educational experience immersive and multidisciplinary This makes the challenge a unique opportunity to compare scientific, technological, and design expertise. The two days will be structured through a concrete integration of:
• food technologies;
• food microbiology and fermentations;
• genomics and genetic improvement;
• artificial intelligence applied to food;
• smart sensors;
• food design, UX and scientific communication.
Why participate? At the end of the Food Design & AI Challenge, participants will have developed not only knowledge but method, vision, professional approach e key competencies These skills are increasingly in demand in the food tech sector. Through project work, students will gain insights into the design of innovative food products and processes, experiment with the use of artificial intelligence as a decision-making tool in the food system, and hone their ability to scientifically and technologically evaluate the solutions they develop. The experience will also enhance key transferable skills, such as working in multidisciplinary teams and developing technical and scientific presentation and pitching skills.
Throughout the experience, students will also have access to the campus's spaces and laboratories, engage in ongoing discussions with course instructors, and receive concrete scientific and technological feedback on the development of their project ideas.
Iniziative come la Food Design & AI Challenge represent much more than a challenge: they become spaces for research, experimentation and vision, capable of introducing new generations to the professions of the future and promoting a culture of responsible innovation.
