The story of the recent graduate and her parents: the student UCBM he discussed his thesis remotely on June 15th

Eleonora's point of view

"I was a child and to anyone who asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I answered: the doctor!!! Certainly my father, a doctor, had a certain weight in the answer, but over the years the vocation for the profession grew more and more. It seems like yesterday when full of fear I had faced the entrance exam: there were so many candidates and then I didn't want to enter any university: I wanted to enter the Campus! Six years of "crazy and extremely desperate study" and what happens? A virus? And the my degree? My thesis? My university friends? I had reached the end and instead... And instead: with the help of the supervisors I managed to complete the thesis, my parents who have always supported me in everything these years have been by my side, my fantastic course friends have shared exams, hopes and fears with me. I managed to crown my dream. I am a doctor. When they told me that I would discuss my thesis remotely, I was almost desperate, but then that day, at my house, with the dearest people nearby, all anxieties and fears vanished. I graduated with honors among the shouts of joy of the people present and the huge hug of the people closest to me. Of course I couldn't shoot the fireworks but I don't despair: there is always specialization!!!"

The point of view of mom and dad

"June 15, 2020. What a joy!!! Certainly the year didn't start very well... COVID has discovered us fragile and all of a sudden all projects, including those perhaps a little futile like those of a big graduation party of our daughter Eleonora, collapsed under the tremendous numbers of the Civil Protection bulletins at 18.00 pm Eleonora at home saw day after day the possibility of brilliantly concluding her university career, the thesis left halfway in the closed laboratory that 10 March vanish. which I think we will never forget, while my husband and I could not find the right words to allay his anxieties. Then finally, very slowly, we returned to normal: the date for the discussion was set, chiaramind at a distance, bought the dress and wedding favors. The thesis with the valuable contribution of the supervisors was completed, and almost without us noticing it arrived on June 15th. Everyone at our house: sister, grandmother, aunts, even the aunt from Matera who came for the occasion, the friends of a lifetime and chiarathe boyfriend lies. Luckily the living room is large, she in the dining room, we in the living room in front of the TV connected to her PC. Everyone "in style", champagne on ice, laurel wreath, ready to cry in unison, but taking care not to distract her: the Graduation Commission was 40 km away from us, but who cares: our daughter graduated brilliantly and we were with her. And to the proclamation: long live our doctor!!!"
