The challenge for the creation of wearable systems
28 May 2020 - "Wearable Device Challenge" is the theme on which theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma invites students to compete in teams of up to 6 people in the event scheduled for June 4th. A challenge broadcast live online and hinged on the work of the international workshop organized by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) on metrology for industry 4.0 and IoT, sponsored by UCBM along with others universities and institutions.
The event is promoted by the IEEE Student Branch ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and will have as its objective the creation of wearable systems capable of monitoring respiratory rate or movements of joints, acquiring data in real time and estimating, using custom algorithms, the quantity of interest. An initiative open to university students and doctoral students from all over the world to encourage the birth of new ideas and solutions for industry and the Internet of Things. Around 50 students - who have worked in recent weeks on the preparation of the projects - will compete in front of a dedicated commission which will evaluate and reward the products based on the criteria of wearability, performance, innovation and presentation.
The challenge will represent the main activity dedicated to young students of the international congress which will be attended by top international experts in metrology, sensors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, nanotechnology, genetics and biotechnology, among the most important topics in the so-called "fourth industrial revolution " that we are witnessing. Among the main organizers are teachers and researchers UCBM: the General Chair Emiliano Schena, the Special Session Chair Carlo Massaroni of the Biomedical Measurements and Instrumentation Research Unit, the Plenary Speaker Domenico Formica of the Research Unit of Neurophysiology and Neuroengineering of Human-Technology Interaction.
