Project objectives
The MoveToZero project aims to design and build a system for producing synthetic natural gas from green hydrogen and carbon dioxide from plants classified as large emitters.
The plan is to produce hydrogen through electrolysis, using energy generated by photovoltaic panels to power the process. These panels will be installed at a commercial site dedicated to the sale of cars. The methane produced by the plant can be injected into the regional transport network, possibly enriched with hydrogen in accordance with current regulations.
Alternatively, based on the indications of a thorough technical and economic analysis, it will be possible to equip the production site with distribution stations. A further aim of the project is to implement a business sustainability model that can be replicated on a large scale, with appropriate adjustments based on the site's specific characteristics.
The Process Engineering Research Unit is involved in the basic design of the overall system, as well as in its technical-economic and environmental analysis.
