RAnolazine for Ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention in Diabetic patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (RAID Study)
Project objectivesA prospective, randomized study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of ranolazine pretreatment (375 mg twice daily for one week, 500 mg twice daily for one week, and 750 mg twice daily for two weeks) on periprocedural and ischemia-reperfusion myocardial injury in patients undergoing angioplasty with stenting for ischemic coronary artery disease. Ranolazine, one of the new anti-ischemic drugs, has demonstrated a series of pharmacological effects that not only improve patient symptoms and reduce cardiac ischemia, but may also improve endothelial function, reduce inflammatory and platelet activation, and thus attenuate the mechanisms underlying angioplasty-induced myocardial injury, which is prognostically relevant in the long-term follow-up of these patients. |
