ODIN

Leveraging AI based technology to transform the future of health care delivery in Leading Hospitals in Europe - ODIN

Project objectives

The development of new technologies has enabled a digital transformation of health and healthcare, radically transforming the way patients access and interact with hospital services. Machine learning, robotic systems, and telemedicine play an important role in both research and patient care. Hospitals are constantly challenged to increase efficiency and productivity, ensuring quality and safety while simultaneously containing and reducing costs. ODIN has identified 11 critical challenges in the hospital environment, to be addressed by combining robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support the work of healthcare professionals, improve clinical practice sites, logistics, and interaction with the community. The ODIN project will focus on the use of innovative technologies along three lines of intervention: healthcare professional support (AI, cybernetics, and bionics), the introduction of autonomous and collaborative robotics, and the enhancement of medical facilities with IoT. These intervention strategies will be tested in six hospitals (in Spain, France, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, and Germany) through seven use cases, ranging from purely clinical to logistical activities, including patient management, disaster preparedness, and hospital resilience. The ODIN pilot project will consist of a federation of multicenter longitudinal cohort studies, demonstrating the safety, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of technological solutions for improving hospital productivity and quality. Specifically, the project will provide an open, secure, decentralized platform supporting a series of federated services and enabling resources based on robotics, IoT, and AI environments.
