Evaluation of two Adapted Physical Activity (APA) training programs on cardiopulmonary parameters, inflammatory cytokines response, nutrients intake and body composition in subjects affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Project Objectives
Main objective:
- To evaluate the effects of two adapted physical activity training programs (resistance vs resistance + strength) in 100 patients affected by COPD (grade 1-3). The parameters applied are pulmonary and cardiovascular function, exercise capacity, strength of segmental and respiratory muscles, body composition, bone mineral density, intake of macro and micronutrients, serum cytokine levels, endothelial dysfunction and quality of life.
Secondary objectives:
- To identify the physical activity protocols to be proposed to COPD patients.
- To increase knowledge on the factors involved in responses to physical exercise by COPD patients.
- To assess the immune response to physical exercise.
