CLARO Project

Radiomics applied to lung cancer

Project objectives

Single-centre prospective observational study in patients with locally advanced or metastatic lung cancer (stages III-IV). In lung cancer stages III and IV, the heterogeneity of the tumors is responsible for the highly variable prognosis of these patients. This study aims to create customized models for prognostic purposes. In particular, the diagnostic images, the radiomic features (characterization of the tumor phenotype starting from the radiological images by means of mathematical algorithms), the pathomic data (phenotypic characterization of histopathological slides) will be merged into a signature which, through artificial intelligence, will offer the possibility of offer the appropriate care to the patient who will most benefit from it. This study envisages the collaboration of the Oncological Radiotherapy, Processing Systems and Bioinformatics, Medical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging and Pathological Anatomy Units.
