Project objectives
Fit for Medical Robotics aims to cover the technological, economic, legal and political gaps currently present in the Italian healthcare system, which have prevented the large-scale clinical adoption of first-rate robotic and digital, patient-specific therapies/treatments . This will be possible by addressing the following objectives:
O1: Identify the needs of patients and rehabilitation professionals/therapists, associated with specific selected pathologies, not met by current robotic technologies.
O2: Adapt the most advanced and ready-to-use (i.e. available today) types of robots for rehabilitation, care and employment to the above needs and patients, as well as neuroscience-based protocols.
O3: Clinically evaluate such available robots and then provide conclusive clinical evidence of their effectiveness when adapted to different target groups of patients/individuals.
O4: Carry out a detailed cost-benefit analysis of such clinical evaluations to assess their sustainability.
O5: Optimize clinical protocols in order to create specific paradigms to promote the inclusion of robotic technology for health and personal care in medical, rehabilitation and occupational environments.
O6: Develop and promote with policy makers and stakeholders the inclusion and diffusion of robots and sustainable treatments in the national healthcare system, including by developing specific economic, commercial and reimbursement models, as well as shaping them to be also compatible with existing private law instruments used in the welfare system. |
