Project objectives
Periprosthetic infections are one of the most ominous complications of orthopedic surgery. Timing in diagnosis is critical, since in acute infections the success rate is closely related to timely joint remediation surgery.
However, obtaining current diagnostic tools are burdened with lackluster sensitivity and specificity or high cost. The aim of this project is to obtain a simple diagnostic tool, with high sensitivity and specificity and low cost, in order to optimize the time between the onset of symptoms suspected of infection and surgical treatment.
