Project objectivesShowmotionHome offers an innovative technological solution for the assistance, monitoring and evaluation of joint rehabilitation in living environments, with particular reference to the home. The ShowmotionHome platform, through wearable sensor networks and IoT, guides the patient until the correct completion of his rehabilitation program, with remote clinical supervision, to obtain the maximum result in favor of improving the patient's quality of life. The new high-tech service provided by ShowmotionHome effectively supports the regional health service, promoting dehospitalization and improving medium/long-term outcomes for interventions affecting the shoulder joint. The ShowmotionHome platform integrates specific sensors for the remote control and monitoring of vital parameters relevant for the early diagnosis of COVID-19, such as SpO2 percentage, heart rate, respiratory rate and galvanic impedance of the skin. The intelligence developed to follow the patient's progress in the home rehabilitation process allows the implementation of specific analyses aimed at detecting any alterations in vital parameters attributable to possible early effects of COVID-19 contagion, promptly and automatically activating diagnostic assessment protocols. The social and health effects of the approach proposed with the ShowmotionHome platform are multiple and interconnected. On the one hand, it offers the possibility of carrying out rehabilitation at home, relieving healthcare facilities and ensuring continuity of care even during periods of health emergency, when facilities normally dedicated to rehabilitation may be inactive for a long time. On the other hand, it allows home surveillance not only to complete the scheduled rehabilitation program, but also for health surveillance of vital parameters via the ShowmotionHome platform itself, allowing the timely activation of clinical assessment procedures for suspected COVID-19 well in advance of the procedures normally activated only after the appearance of obvious disorders related to COVID-19. ShowmotionHome develops its highly acceptable, effective and robust home platform to assist and guide the patient in the path that leads to the restoration of joint function and the performance of daily life activities, alongside the constant monitoring of vital parameters to report possible COVID-19 alert situations. This is achieved through a highly interdisciplinary and knowledge-based approach, starting from the definition of the specifications and design, thanks to the clinical, technological, industrial, biomechanical and management skills of the participants in the project partnership. The success of ShowmotionHome is supported by an extensive phase of real-world testing, made possible by the clinical expertise and extensive operational experience present in the partnership. ShowmotionHome develops a solution based on high technology and a highly innovative approach to home rehabilitation, which will have a significant impact on the quality of life, the health and wellness industry and the healthcare system. |
