The Master will be delivered in Italian.

The st level University Master Degree in Sports Physiotherapy and artistic activities is organized and provided in collaboration with the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, the Foro Italico University of Rome and the "Foro Italico" University Foundation.

Educational objectives

A Master to train professionals specialized in the physiotherapy management of athletes to improve clinical expertise, use scientific information autonomously and increase knowledge relating to research methodology and evidence-based practice in sports physiotherapy and artistic activities.

The objectives of the training course are:

  • increase knowledge of human anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics and neurophysiology of movement
  • update knowledge of physiotherapy techniques, manual therapy and therapeutic exercise in the acute, subacute and chronic phases
  • provide the indications for using validated tools (scales, tests and outcome measures) to verify the effectiveness of the rehabilitation treatment
  • elaborate on the elements of neuropsychology and psychology related to sports performance
  • introduce the basics of science applied to motor and sports activities to allow the physiotherapist to be able to compare themselves with other professionals in the management of the athlete and to adopt effective interdisciplinary and interprofessional communication
  • increase knowledge of research methodology and evidence based practice in sports physiotherapy
  • improve clinical expertise using scientific information autonomously
  • provide knowledge and skills for the physiotherapy management of Paralympic athletes

Career opportunities

Those who achieve the Master will be able to operate adequately in the field of sports institutions and organizations at national and international level, professional or amateur, and of structures and organizations connected to sports practice, with the role of Sports Physiotherapist.

In particular they will be able to:

  • work independently or in multidisciplinary teams within sports clubs (professional or amateur), National Sports Federations (FSN) affiliated with CONI, Sports Promotion bodies and other private sports organizations;
  • practice the profession as expert consultants in sports physiotherapy;
  • participate in initiatives to promote the culture of health protection, in sports activities in both schools and universities.

Recipients and access requirements

The Master is aimed at all those in possession of a first level degree in the health area in Physiotherapy, or a qualifying university diploma or equivalent or equivalent qualification pursuant to art. 4, Law 26 February 1999, n. 42.

La methodology for remote services used is consistent with the contents of the disciplines taught and with the educational goals defined at the design stage. In particular, there is a tendency to mainly use active teaching methods in order to influence not only knowledge, but also technical skills and attitudes.

Internship

Participants will have to carry out an internship in which they will be able to experimentally apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training course.

The organizations that will host the trainees will be identified among the Sports Federations and sports promotion bodies, sports clubs, professional physiotherapy studios and sports rehabilitation clinics that will respond to the training needs of the Master.

Those who have gained other knowledge, professional skills and abilities within contexts related to the course of study, certified in accordance with current legislation on the subject, can request the recognition and validation of the credits relating to the Internship. The number of credits awarded to the participant will be evaluated, upon presentation of suitable documentation, by a special commission appointed by the Scientific Director of the Master.

Methods of Admission

The application for admission to the Master must be submitted by 24 March 2023 using this procedure online

  • It requires the inclusion of the following information:
  • personal data and contact details
  • information relating to the degree
  • resume
  • identity card
  • self-declaration in lieu of a certification;
  • details of the successful transfer of the admission fee (50 €)

The selection will be made through curricular evaluation carried out by a Judging Commission made up of the Scientific Direction, the Scientific Coordinator, the Teaching Coordinator and a written admission test which will be held on 29 March, 2023 at the offices ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. Timetable and classrooms will be appropriately communicated via email by theUCBM Academy

The test will consist of 60 multiple choice questions with 4 possible answers of which only 1 is correct.

Topics to be tested:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • History of sport and knowledge of the main sports
  • Biomechanics, pathologies and orthopedic evaluation tests (e.g. load and shift, anterior drawer)
  • Statistics

Participation fee and scholarships

The enrollment fee for the Master is equal to € 5.000,00 to be paid in two instalments

There is also the possibility of enrollment with a reduced fee of € 4.200,00 (instead of € 5.000,00) in favor of the following categories:

  • undergraduates and graduates ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma;
  • undergraduates and graduates of the University of the Foro Italico with a degree in Physiotherapy;
  • employees of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital Foundation;
  • employees of the Foro Italico Foundation.

All payments, including the one relating to the admission application, must be made by bank transfer to the bank current account in the name of:

Title awarded

Participants who complete the Master and are in compliance with the administrative obligations will be awarded the title of st level University Master in "Sports physiotherapy and artistic activities".
