For a week, the University will be transformed into a public square: a packed program of initiatives will focus on relationships, values, sports, and entertainment.
Rome, 13 May 2026 – Entertainment, scientific research, sport and spirituality are the ingredients of the fifteenth "Sport, Art, Science, and Culture Week 2026" ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di RomaUntil May 14th the University comes alive with a busy schedule involving the entire Campus Bio-Medico community. The aim of the traditional university week, which involves students, faculty, researchers, doctors, and employees, is to promote the integration between academic knowledge, art, sport and culture, encouraging encounters with others and reflect together on the message of the Blessed Álvaro del Portillo, inspirer of the Bio-Medico Campus, Prelate of Opus Dei since 1975 and first successor of Saint Josemaria Escrivà, to whom the event is dedicated.
Born in 2012 in memory of the student Saverio Tombolini, who passed away prematurely, the week puts the person at the center in his entirety, involving the entire university community. Classes have been suspended during certain time slots to make room for sports tournaments, shows, and social gatherings until late at night. theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma it transforms into a square for a few days where life stories, education, dreams and hopes intertwine beyond professional and academic paths.
The program, started Monday, May 11th with the Memorial Sergio Morini at the Sport City sports facilities, continues on Wednesday 13 May, with the sports conference entitled “Training and achievements, the gratitude of the journey” which sees the participation of Olympic and Paralympic champions such as Daniele Cassioli, Francesca and Giulia Lollobrigida, and Eleonora Goldoni, testimonial of "We Football" and footballer for SS Lazio. The meeting, moderated by TG1 journalist Marco Franzelli, is scheduled at the CuBo Auditorium. The day continues on the stage in the university square with the “Concerto Musiform”, dedicated to Fabrizio De André, curated by singer-songwriter Luca Pugliese together with Rai journalists Max De Tomassi and Leonardo Metalli (Piazzale between PRABB and Trapezio). The week ends on May 14th with the CAMPUS' GOT TALENT 2026, the evening that brings students and staff on stage before a panel of faculty and experts. Aspiring artists perform in a wide variety of disciplines, from singing to acting, from stand-up comedy to musical performances (Piazzale tra PRABB and Trapezio).
On Tuesday, May 12th, feast of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo, they took place on theathral show “Murder on the Orient Express”, freely adapted from the novel of the same name by Agatha Christie, staged by the theatre group of the University and the Holy Mass in honor of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo celebrated by Bishop Havier del Castillo, Vicar General of the Prelature of Opus Dei at the Chapel of the University Hospital.
Blessed Don Álvaro del Portillo He was a bishop and the first successor to St. Josemaría Escrivá at the head of Opus Dei for nineteen years. He lived the Gospel message to the full and is remembered as an example of Christian virtue and fidelity to the Church. During his pastoral activity, he wrote numerous publications on theological, canon law, and pastoral matters. In his role as Prelate of Opus Dei, Alvaro del Portillo encouraged the creation of numerous social and educational initiatives, including the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and the University Hospital, and promoted the Prelature's work in 20 new countries. It was he, in the late 80s, who spoke to a group of people about a yet-unfulfilled dream of St. Josemaría: a university clinic in Rome, capable of combining medical-scientific skills with attention to the patient as a person and academic training with a Christian spirit of service.
