Rome, 16 December 2020 - Guarantee the best quality of care for patients in the advanced stage of the disease offering the territory a service inspired by a holistic vision of personal assistance. With a total of 60 places authorized by ASL Roma2, 12 residential and 48 in home care, the new palliative care center “Together in the cure” ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma located within the regional nature reserve of Decima Malafede, in the Trigoria area.
The facility, which will welcome the first patients in the next few days, is part of the Via àlvaro del Portillo 15 complex in Rome within of the CESA multifunctional building which hosts the activities of the Center for the Health of the Elderly promoted by the Alberto Sordi Foundation and fills one of the assistance needs of the territory.
“Together in Care” works in close connection with the local healthcare network to ensure continuity of care. It was born with the aim of focus on those in need of assistance for advanced stage diseases, for the treatment of pain and other symptoms. The respect for the person, its characteristics and its wills, information to the patient and his family members about all stages of the disease and the high regard for the care relationship they are the cornerstones around which the action of the Center's team develops.
The hospice was conceived with the aim of recreating the living comfort of a home environment thanks to large and modern rooms in which it is possible bring your pet. The large structure is proposed as a place where the well-being of the person it is considered an integral part of the cure. Great consideration has been given to socializing spaces such as the herbal tea room open 24 hours a day and the common areas for meetings and recreational activities, the dining room, the chapel, the large terrace and the outdoor garden (currently not usable, they will be usable at the end of the Covid-24 emergency) . The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, mini fridge, equipped toilets, call bell, electric bed, individual light.
To assist patients a team of palliative doctors and nurses, psychologists, social and health workers, physiotherapists, as well as social and spiritual workers. A network of volunteers is active every day to ensure the presence of adequately trained people to support the patient's quality of life. At home, the patient is followed up daily thanks to a Individual care plan.
