08 February 2022 - Born from an idea of Davide Cassioli, blind from birth, multiple world and European water ski champion and member of the National Council of the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) theReal Eyes Sport Amateur Sports Association, with which theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma has entered into a collaboration to promote sports volunteering.
Generate in young people with visual impairment a sense of inclusion, sharing and belonging capable of overcoming physical, mental and cultural barriers is one of the objectives of ASD Real Eyes Sport, which not only wants to offer blind or visually impaired children moments of leisure and socializing, but also wants contribute to the development of fine motor skills, and not only, related to daily life. Through sport, young people acquire awareness of their bodies, motor memory, balance but also self-confidence and trust in others in a context without prejudice, in which disability is not an obstacle to life's experiences.
This scenario includes theinitiative of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma promoted by the sports director Paolo Massimo Campogrande: a volunteer project aimed at students and employees to stimulate the development of a sensitive approach to inclusive sporting culture through multiple events in which sport is the protagonist.
In the future, the intention is to involve other sporting bodies that promote, in a concrete way, moments in which the ludic-motor experience shared between people with and without disabilities favors evolutionary processes in all the subjects involved: students, instructors, volunteers and family members.
