Her appointment will last three years. With her we explored the meaning and value of this appointment, starting from the perspective that the nursing profession can offer on healthcare.
What vision of healthcare does the nursing profession bring with it?
I believe that the vision of healthcare specific to the nursing profession can offer a significant contribution to understanding the needs not only of patients, but also of families and communities. It is a perspective that comes from direct experience alongside those who face suffering, but also extends to health promotion and prevention. This view, rooted in closeness to people, can help keep healthcare oriented towards care, relationships and shared responsibility between professionals, citizens and institutions.
She is an expert in palliative care and is responsible for the Palliative Care Center “Insieme nella cura” of the Policlinico Foundation.
Palliative care represents an increasingly important part of assistance and healthcare in general, especially in a context marked by an aging population and growing complexity of needs. It is an area that has made important steps, but still requires greater recognition and development, both from a cultural and organizational perspective.
His professionalism will therefore be put at the service of the State, together obviously with his long clinical and teaching experience gained within the Campus Bio-Medico.
The value orientation of this institution has always been a solid reference, which is expressed in a cultural and professional context that combines scientific rigor, ethical sensitivity and attention to the relational dimension. This approach helps to develop a vision of healthcare centered on the person and prepares to responsibly face the challenges that the present poses to health professionals.
