Rome, in the Jubilee year, is the city chosen by MIT Technology Review Italy and by 'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, to host EmTech Italy 2025 Human & Tech, the first Italian edition to be held And March 11 12 2025. The capital, also home to one of the Emerging Technology Houses, an innovation hub dedicated to the development of advanced technological solutions promoted by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, in the second quarter of 2024 had 1.384 innovative startups, equal to 10,75% of the national total: a figure that highlights its role as a centre of attraction for talent, investment and research on a global level.

AGENDA

EmTech Italy, the world's leading event on emerging technologies, will be held in the Cu.Bo spaces, the new multifunctional building of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. Here, over 500 world-renowned opinion leaders, decision makers, academics, experts and CEOs will discuss the future of the economy and innovation, with particular attention to the role ofArtificial intelligence in global transformations.

The event will focus on three key areas - Health, Energy and Society, Environment & Well-Being - to analyze how these technologies can improve people's daily lives, with an increasingly human-centered approach. Representatives of institutions at all levels will also fuel the debate. They will be present over 40 speakers, authoritative names including Alec ross, Author of The Industries of the Future, entrepreneur, and former Senior Advisor for Innovation (US State Department), BrianAnthony, Associate Director of MIT.nano, Carlo Ratti, Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab, Thomas Poggio, Eugene McDermott Professor in MIT's Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Varun Sivaram Senior Fellow for Energy and Climate of the Council on Foreign Relations, Ersilia Vaudo, Chief Diversity Officer ESA, Eugenio Guglielmelli, Rector ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Ilaria Capua, of JHU SAIS Europe, Paola pisano, former Minister of Innovation and director of the HighEst Lab at the University of Turin.

THEMES

I'm more than 20In fact, the round tables and keynote address planned to present success stories and discuss the tools and strategies for developing new technologies for practical applications in the three main areas.

In healthcare sector, Artificial Intelligence (AI) already offers new opportunities for timely diagnoses, personalized treatments and improvements in patient management. For example, the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP) in this field improves doctor-patient communication, facilitating the analysis of symptoms and making the interaction more natural and effective[1]. EmTech will explore AI applications that help decision makers find strategic solutions to improve care, increase prevention, and effectively manage related costs.

In Energy sector, AI helps optimize the production and use of resources, supporting the adoption of renewable sources and improving the efficiency of existing systems. According to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), using AI-based technologies can improve forecast accuracy by up to 20%[2]. The event will be an opportunity to discover innovative AI solutions that enable organizations to address energy management innovation challenges and drive the transition to a low-carbon future.

Furthermore, the innovation brought by Artificial Intelligence improves the well-being of individuals by improving urban development and resource management, and thus leading to the creation of a company healthier. This is a theme that will provide managers with new strategies to align business practices with sustainability goals, balancing economic growth with social responsibility. Suffice it to say that in the social and economic sphere, a large-scale use of AI would lead to an increase in the Italian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 150-170 billion euros per year for the next ten years, equivalent to a growth of 8%[3].

"We are incredibly honored to bring EmTech, our most important event dedicated to emerging technologies, to Italy for the first time - and to do so in Rome. Italy is one of the driving forces in the global scientific research and innovation landscape, with a scientific production that ranks among the first in Europe and in the world. EmTech Italy will be an unprecedented meeting point, where we can explore the real impact of emerging technologies on people's lives and celebrate the Italian excellence that is redefining our future. It will be the ideal place to inspire, to network, and to launch new innovative projects that will leave a profound mark on the international level." - comments Thomas Canonici, editor of MIT Technology Review Italia.

Eugenio Guglielmelli, Rector ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Romahe adds: "The event will focus on the new major challenges posed by artificial intelligence to ensure fully sustainable and human-centered innovation. The integration of digital, communication, sensor, mechatronic and robotic technologies is generating increasingly challenging intelligent systems capable of supporting and improving human action in multiple contexts, such as solutions that can increasingly guarantee the safety, quality and well-being of social and professional life."

Andrea Rossi, CEO of the University, underlines: "The event reflects our commitment to responding to society's most pressing challenges and represents a key moment for the country's growth: when such a high number of leading figures from the academic, institutional and manufacturing worlds come together to talk about innovation and the future in a One Health perspective, we have a unique opportunity to give life to new ideas. We want people to remain at the center with their knowledge, their ability to engage in discussion, their desire to put people at the center and a vision that enhances emerging technologies to improve people's health and well-being. Where ideas are open to discussion, this is where innovation is born that improves our future."

EmTech Italy, the flagship format of MIT Technology Review, the oldest and most authoritative magazine of innovation and technology in the MIT (MIT), debuts in Italy with the support of prestigious partners, such as Takeda Italy, Cisco - Tech Partner, Incyte, Intesa Sanpaolo - Educational Partner, Angelini Ventures, Assobiotec, Merck, Poste Italiane and Soremartec Italia.

In collaboration with A2A, the first Italian edition is coordinated by the knowledge partners Opinion, ADL Consulting e Good & Partners.
