Advances in research and patient safety. The course "The safety of drugs, vaccines and medical devices in the pre- and post-marketing phase" which involved all medical-health personnel closes. Francesco Rossi's appeal (Clinical Innovation Office): "This is the right time to get vaccinated"

Rome, January 27, 2021 - Relaunching safety in the use of drugs and vaccines even within healthcare facilities is the message that comes from the pharmacovigilance course “The safety of drugs, vaccines and medical devices in the pre- and post-marketing phases” organized byUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in online version on 20 and 27 January for all its medical-health staff.

An effort strongly supported byUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and from the University Polyclinic which gave its contribution on the inaugural day of January 20th together with teachers from the most important Italian universities, from Aifa and from the Ministry of Health.

The theoretical-practical path ends today and marks a renewed commitment to patients and to the culture of safety on the part of the university which manages a university hospital, a Covid center, a palliative care center and offers the area numerous outpatient services in agreement with the National Health Service.

“I think it is very qualifying that an institution like theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma involves its staff in a moment of high quality and value training - Said Francesco Rossi, professor of pharmacology at the Vanvitelli University of Naples and head of the Clinical Innovation Office Ucbm -  I believe this is an important moment of growth for the Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico which is advancing in monitoring the safety of drugs, vaccines and medical devices and in this way creating added value for the experiments carried out in the Ucbm structures.".

THEUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma proceeds on the path of pharmacovigilance with a double objective: “On one side - goes on Rossi - increase the attention of researchers on the efficacy of their trials, because it is not enough to verify what happens at the level of the therapy but it is also necessary to evaluate the level of safety on the patient. The other important element of growth will be the possibility to better monitor the use of drugs in the various departments".

Today the aspect of pharmacovigilance is as important as that of therapy: involving doctors and healthcare professionals and increasing their awareness is a key element in the clinical setting. These are professionals who work alongside the patient and who can treat both the aspects related to the symptoms of the disease and support the person in his treatment path in the event of damage or adverse reactions.

And looking at the pandemic from Covid-19 being defined. Francesco Rossi he underlined the safety of the vaccines approved so far and also used at the Policlinico Ucbm: “The reactions experienced both in the first and in the second administration are in the order of how muchchiaraby the manufacturing companies. These vaccines are safe, they have been well studied and approved following all the phases carefully up to the final dossier ".

Rossi he then launched an appeal: “I think this is the right time to vaccinate us all, indeed we must push for vaccines to be available for everyone. Italy did well to complain about the non-delivery of vaccines because the more we vaccinate the entire population the more we could hope to get out of the pandemic this year ".
