A meeting of knowledge and mutual exchange

16th November 2015 - A meeting that has been scheduled for some time to establish a relationship of mutual understanding and esteem. But the massacres in Paris - reinforcing the urgency and need for dialogue between cultures - made the visit of the Jewish community of Rome even more timely and heartfelt.

You are the guest representatives of theUCBM, Monday 16 November. In addition to its chief rabbi, Richard DiSegniand its President, Ruth Dureghello, the top management of the University have in fact also welcomed Daniel Funaro, Councilor for Community Policies, Daniela Debach, Assessor to the schools, and the lawyer Giordana Moscati, Councilor for youth policies.

A morning in which first of all there was talk of the formation of young people and interreligious coexistence, emphasizing how the latter must be nourished by a few slogans and - indeed - by many concrete meetings.

Like those experienced daily in the corridors of theUCBM by the Jewish students of the University. Four of them also took part in the meeting. Among these, Micol A., a member of President Dureghello's staff, who also contributed directly to his organization.

The morning concluded with a visit to the University Hospital - in particular to the Hematology and Radiotherapy departments (the Chief Rabbi himself is a radiologist) - and positively impressed the representatives of the Jewish community. A meeting that - rather than an arrival - wanted to be a stage, reaffirming the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding for an educational institution based on Christian values.
