Rome, 27 October 2022 - The Board of Directors of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, which met today, appointed the academic team that will work with the new Rector, professor Eugenio Guglielmelli, and who will officially take office from November 1st.

Together with him the Academic Senate composed of the Vice-Rectors and the Deans. The new team, completed by the Faculty Councils (Vice Deans, Presidents of degree courses and Coordinators of research and third mission) will lead the Roman university founded in 1993 and which today has over 3.000 students, around 500 specialist doctors and more than 150 doctoral students , with 3 departmental faculties, 14 degree courses, 26 specialization schools and a wide range of master's and postgraduate courses.

Eugenio Guglielmelli and his team will be in office for three years. In particular, the Rector will be supported in the Academic Senate by 3 Vice-Rectors: Prof Laura De Gara with responsibility for teaching, Prof Simonetta Filippi with responsibility for integrated academic development and prof Sara Ramella with responsibility for integration and social impact. The Principals will be Prof. Vincenzo Di Lazzaro, for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery; the professor Loredana Zollo, for the Faculty of Engineering; the professor Marcella Trombetta, for the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies for Man and the Environment; Dr. completes the team. Andrea Rossi, CEO and General Manager already in office.

Appointments that express the strategic guidelines of the mandate of the new Rector, who aims to further strengthen scientific research - Guglielmelli has given a strong push to the growth of research activities as Vice Rector for Research since 2013 - as a fundamental lever of the distinctive quality also of teaching, continuous training and the third mission in a broad sense.

Born in 1965, Eugenio Guglielmelli He graduated in electronic engineering with a PhD in Electronic, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering. Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Departmental Faculty of Engineering of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and since 2010 he has been full professor of Industrial Bioengineering. Since 2021 he has been the Coordinator of the National Doctorate course in Artificial Intelligence for Health and Life Sciences. Since 2021 he has been designated by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) as the national representative of Italy in the Horizon Europe Program Committee - Cluster Health and since April 2022 a member of the Italian delegation of the G7 - Science working group. Since July 2021 he has been the Scientific Director of the IRCCS Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi Onlus. His research interests are the theoretical and methodological aspects of bioengineering, robotics and intelligent machines, with particular reference to the field of mechatronic and robotic technologies for rehabilitation and assistance to the disabled and the elderly, neuro-robotics, bionics and biorobotics. He is the author of over 500 scientific publications in journals, books and international conference proceedings on the topics of bioengineering and biomedical robotics.
