SAFETY AT WORK, THE BIO-MEDICAL CAMPUS OBTAINS INTERNATIONAL UNI ISO 45001 CERTIFICATION

International recognition for the University and for the Polyclinic Foundation. The level of safety and well-being for all workers is growing

Rome, 29 December 2023 - Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and Campus Bio-Medico University Polyclinic Foundation obtain international certification ISO 45001 for safety in the workplace. A result achieved at the end of 2023 following a stringbody checks the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems adopted by the two bodies and an internal audit with inspections of the work environments essential to verify compliance with the international standard.

The certification, issued byspecialized body Bureau Veritas, was recognized forUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma for the '“provision of university teaching, post-graduate, scientific research and third mission activities”, while for the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario it was released for the “protection and promotion of the human person in the field of healthcare, training, scientific research and innovation in the biomedical and healthcare fields, both clinical and translational. Provision of social welfare services for the elderly. Provision of oncology and radiotherapy treatment services".

The recognition of ISO 45001 came after years of refinement of internal procedures and at the end of a preparation process which saw a careful evaluation of the procedures adopted for adaptation to the most stringentingsafety regulatory bodies. In Italy in 2022, accidents at work increased by 13,2% compared to 2021 according to INAIL data (net of Covid-19 infections) with still heavy numbers regarding deaths at work.

ISO 45001 certification is still not widespread in Italy in university institutions or healthcare institutions. Thanks to the proactive role of all University and Foundation staff, the certification will allow us to further increase safety, health and well-being in the workplace by transforming rules and procedures into essential safety factors, also providing an important contribution to the growth of performance corporate.
