Rome, October 25 2022 - Modern houses, sustainable mobility and a neighborhood that is also renewing itself thanks to young university students. 60 apartments on the street Luigi De Marchi in the Fonte Laurentina neighborhood open to studentsUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma to recreate, even after lessons, the community spirit born in the classrooms and fully enjoy the university experience.
All this thanks to the agreement between the Roman university and Domus, a company of the Caltagirone Group, to offer over 200 new beds a stone's throw from the University in via Àlvaro del Portillo.
Freshmen, doctoral students and post-graduate students are some of the categories that will be able to access the newly built apartments, fully furnished and equipped with a garage in via Luigi De Marchi just three and a half kilometers from the University headquarters. Two direct connections are ensured morning and evening by a shuttle service organized by Domus and Ucbm to ensure direct mobility even for those who do not have a private means of transport.
The populous Fonte Laurentina district, with over 10 thousand residents and already full of shops and services, is therefore a candidate to become a real university district, increasingly lively and animated.
The new structure, built by Domus, is located in a larger residential complex which already hosts, with a view to intergenerational integration, young couples, families and a structure dedicated to senior housing.
The inauguration took place today in the presence of Prof. Raffaele Calabrò, Rector ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, by Dr. Andrea Rossi, CEO ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, of the students, of Eng. Massimiliano Capece Minutolo del Sasso, President of Domus and of the Lawyer Elena De Simone, CEO of the company.
“We are very happy to start this project” – has ofchiarato Andrea Rossi, CEO and General Director ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma – “The University must support students in having a comfortable and convenient place that is close to their university in order to be able to form a community and make the most of the services offered by the university, from the library to tutoring, from the social initiatives of “Campus Life ” to the sports ones, without forgetting the Decima Malafede Nature Reserve to enjoy greenery and nature just a stone's throw from home. For all these reasons we have started this initiative, and we intend to develop it in the future, to give an ever-increasing number of students the opportunity to make the most of their studies. Now the ongoing challenge is to promote connections with a view to environmental sustainability also with the help of the institutions".
“We are happy to have created housing solutions that have attracted the interest of the students on campus” – said Elena De Simone, CEO of Domus – “To date, numerous students have already chosen to live in the Domus apartments and we are sure that we can continue to represent the reference housing solution for the Campus. We believe in the importance of infrastructures dedicated to students in line, among other things, with the objectives of the PNRR on increasing the number of beds intended for off-site students".
