Second place for Eng. Eleonora Tamilia at the Best Student Paper Award

August 26, 2015Nineteen papers produced by nine Research Units, a spin-off company, an invited session and an international second place in the Best Student Paper Award. It's not going unnoticed theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma at the 37th annual IEEE (Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society) conference, the most important international bioengineering conference which is attended by over 3100 participants for the first time in Italy. L'EMBC 2015 it is holding from 25 to 29 August in Milan on the theme "Biomedical Engineering: a Bridge to improve the Quality of Health Care and the Quality of Life", and wishes to focus in particular on improving the quality of life and on the pursuit of well-being thanks to new technologies.

Precisely in this light have produced their own contributions le Research Unit of Automation, Electronics for Sensory Systems, Measurements and Biomedical Instrumentation, Biomedical Robotics and Biomicrosystems and Processing Systems and Bioinformatics, in collaboration with various RUs of the Departmental Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Among the many scientific results, presented for example those concerning the first year of  PPR2-INAIL project and joined by the Research Unit led by prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli, Pro-Rector for Research as well as member of the organizing committee of the conference itself. He also present, within dn the exhibition space, the stand of Ican Robotics Srl, first spin-off company dell 'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

Finally, it is also worth noting theinvited sessions "New Technological Platforms to Study Children Development", organized by Eng. Fabrizio Taffoni, researcher of the Biomedical Robotics and Biomicrosystems Research Unit, together with Dr. Francesca Cecchi of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa. Inside theeng. Eleonora Tamilia presented the paper “An Automated System for Quantitative Analysis of Newborns' Oral-Motor Behavior and Coordination During Bottle Feeding”, created in collaboration with the Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in Latina. Just his contribution, unique in all of Europe, was selected among the finalists of the Best Student Paper Award and then classified in second position.
