Promote and facilitate the training of future dentists through orientation internships and develop research collaborations for professional development and experimentation of new teaching and integrative activities. These are the objectives of the agreement, which is valid for three years and can be renewed, between ASL Roma 3 and Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma - Master's Degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, signed at the end of last year and which has become operational in recent days.

The contents of the agreement were illustrated this morning at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma In presence of Francesca Milito, General Director ASL Roma 3, Roberto Morello, Director of the UOSD of Otorhinolaryngology and Oral Cavity Pathologies at the GB Grassi Hospital in Ostia and contact person for the Tobia Project of the ASL Roma 3,  Andrea Rossi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager UCBM and the Rector UCBM prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli.

Protocol referent the dr. Roberto Morello and will coordinate the activities of the trainees within the five facilities made available by ASL Roma 3: the Ostia Outpatient Clinic in Via Federico Paolini 34, the GB Grassi Hospital in Ostia in Via Gian Carlo Passeroni, 28, the Coni Zugna Outpatient Clinic in Via Coni Zugna 173 in Fiumicino, the Corviale Outpatient Clinic in Via Marino Mazzacurati, 23 and the Monteverde Outpatient Clinic in Via Berardino Ramazzini, 31.

The students will also be trained in the management of dental patients with cognitive-behavioral disorders thanks to the presence within the Grassi Hospital of Tobia, the service that allows the care of people with complex and/or cognitive-relational disabilities through personalized territorial and hospital care pathways, and also in the management of elderly patients and oncology patients affected by significant systemic pathologies.

"We will welcome up to a maximum of 16 interns for each shift. The Practical Evaluation Internship is a fundamental part of the student's university training path and constitutes the first approach to the profession. The execution of practical activities allows students to acquire an increasing degree of autonomy with a first and important approach to the world of work through direct contact with the patient. The students are also given the opportunity to practice on patients with cognitive behavioral disorders who have a preferential lane thanks to the Tobia Project. We know very well the attention of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma towards issues related to disabilities, a sensitivity that we share and that, thanks to this protocol, we translate together into concrete facts", explains Dr. Roberto Morello.

'L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma constitutes a rapidly expanding university hub, just as its Polyclinic represents a reference healthcare institution for the Capital and in particular for the southernmost area and closest to the territory of competence of our company. The agreement just signed confirms the availability for a collaboration, repeatable in the future, with a university that is investing heavily in research, innovation, teaching and medical healthcare assistance", adds Francesca Milito, General Director of ASL Roma3.

"We are particularly pleased to give life to the agreement with the ASL Roma3, which follows the path started with the ASL Roma1, to give our students in Dentistry the opportunity to train through valuable training experiences within the public health facilities of Rome and Ostia. We believe that dentists must not only be trained through the most innovative technologies, such as those present in our University, but must be trained immediately to treat the patient with empathy and above all with concrete competence and professionalism. - Ofchiara Andrea Rossi, CEO and GM UCBM - The agreement between UCBM and ASL Roma3 is particularly relevant because it looks at supporting the most fragile people. In this sense, the involvement of dentistry in the 'Tobia' project represents an important option for people with disabilities, one of the fragilities that the Campus Bio-Medico in its various branches takes care of on a daily basis".

"The training of students of the Degree Course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics requires an integrated approach between theory and practice. For this reason we are particularly happy and grateful for this agreement with ASL Roma3 which will give a further concrete opportunity to our students to carry out more and more internships and training placements within public health facilities, contributing to an integrated training capable of combining technological innovation and humanization of care. The challenge of our University, in fact, is to insert into the world of work young dentists capable of responding to the needs of a profession in strong change and the agreement with ASL Roma 3 represents an effective tool to provide advanced and distinctive knowledge and skills to serve the patient, the territory, and society", concludes the Rector UCBM Eugenio Guglielmelli.

Each student will be assigned a tutor, a practical evaluation internship booklet and a training and orientation internship booklet which will list the names of the tutors. At the beginning of each shift, the tutor on duty will sign the booklet in which, at the end of the day, the activities carried out will be summarised. The TPV coordinator, after consulting the assigned tutors, will be responsible for preparing the final report on the activity carried out by the intern.
